Hillwalking Glen Finglas - Scottish Walks.
Another one day trip I took to the Trossachs was a fine summers day, when the light was ideal for a few photo opportunities and a little walking. Approaching over the Dukes Pass(A821), I caught Ben Venue and Ben Ledi and the lochs in a generous photographic mood.
The cracking little walk in which I partook was the gentle stroll of a few miles up to the Glen Finglas Reservoir. Arriving in Brig o' Turk, keep your eye open for a small road to your left in the middle of the village that lets you drive up to 1ml from the dam, power station and reservoir. The small road eventually comes to a Y junction at which one finds a small car park. Take the right fork and travel along the man made road, moving slightly uphill for about 1/2 mile through mainly sparse forestry until you reach a small clearing in the trees, which gives a magnificent view of the reservoir and a chance for some photographs.
Carrying on another few hundred yards, another clearing gives you your first view of the dam itself. Eventually the trees clear for a full view of the reservoir and the hills of Meall Gainmheich to the west and northwards to Moine nan Each and Creag nah Airighe. I spent about two hrs return on this walk but the walk splits and a lengthier time can be had here.
