Hillwalking The Devil's Beef Tub nr Moffat Southern Uplands - Scottish Walks.

Length: 1 mile Duration:  2 Hours.
Difficulty: 5/10 O.S.

The Devils Beef Tub is a culmination of four hills creating a deep hollow where in days of yore was a hiding place for rustled cattle. It lies off the A701, right and i mean right on the boundry between Dumfries and Galloway and the Scottish Borders. This is one of the beautiful sceneery to behold that is part of the Southern Uplands Way Walk .

Thursday 30th June. 2011.

The final day took me back to Moffat via the A708 and after some breakfast in the town, I made my way along the A701 for a few miles to reach the Devil’s Beef Tub. The Tub is a culmination of four hills creating a deep hollow where in days of yore was a hiding place for rustled cattle.  Nearing the Tub, it is worth pulling into the few scarce lay bys in order to admire the sights along the A701. The hills and glens and forestry are awesome.
