I travelled along the A85 from Tyndrum just north of Crianlarich on the Oban road, until I reached Connal where I turned right over the picturesque Connal bridge over Loch Etive and I reached the small village of Benderloch. At the beginning of the town there is the Ben Lora café with its ample car park. Just park the vehicle here, cross the road and guess what, we have the start of the walk. |

The trail begins almost like an alleyway in that, while on a good path, I was surrounded by trees on either side of the path and then found the route zig-zagging until I reached a few viewpoints, presenting the land, now below me. Shortly after leaving the trees at my behind , there is an option to be had. I could carry on or take a quick detour to the Eagle’s Eyrie, another viewpoint.
A few hundred yards after the cut off, back on the main walk, a gate will present itself and on entering I found a small bench for the weary limbs, before the final assault. The way now, dips a little and the path is indistinct but the destination is in view. A little scrambling will get you to the summit of Beinn Lora, with plenty all round views of lochs, glens, mountains and islands. Great walk.
